Morphosis California Architecture Exhibition

Morphosis Continuties of the incomplete

The "MORPHOSIS California Architecture Exhibition" (Morphosis Continuties of the incomplete) was held from March 8 to July 17, 2006, in the large exhibition hall on the sixth floor of the Centre Pompidou.

This architectural special exhibition showcased the innovative designs of the renowned California-based firm MORPHOSIS, founded by architect Thom Mayne in 1972, over its thirty-plus years of operation. The entire venue resembled a dramatic Hollywood movie theater; the exhibition space, constructed of transparent glass and spanning 250 square meters, featured a sloping floor and a massive wall screen continuously projecting scenes of California's urban landscape. Twenty-five modern and postmodern architectural models and videos were positioned beneath visitors' feet, presenting a highly contemporary installation that conveyed the forms of California architecture and city life. Through these models and video images, visitors experienced the nature of the modern metropolis through audiovisual, spatial, and bodily engagement.
