On July 11 at 8 a.m., we gathered and took the train from Lyon Station to another magnificent royal palace in the suburbs of Paris: the Château de Fontainebleau. Its orderly architectural complex is the most representative building of the Renaissance in the Paris region. The famous horseshoe staircase stands directly ahead, with splendid gardens behind it.
The visit is divided into two parts. You can choose to tour the castle, which features opulent palaces, the Trinity Chapel, the Gallery of Francis I, the King’s Staircase, the Ballroom, the King’s Apartments, the Napoleon Hall, and other residences, as well as a Chinese Museum, among others. Outside are the splendid gardens, divided into five zones: the English Garden, colorful flowerbeds, the Koi Pond, the Pavilion, the Diana Garden, and more, all waiting to be discovered. (You can have a picnic by the koi pond; if necessary, you may bring some bread to feed the fish.)
