On July 10, we gathered at 6 a.m. and departed promptly at 7 from Denfert-Rochereau Square for a day trip by coach to Château d'Ussé on the Loire. This outstanding Renaissance castle, themed around the story of Sleeping Beauty, immerses visitors in a fairy-tale world; lunch was served here in the afternoon. We then continued to Château de Villandry, where the gardens, not the castle itself, are the main attraction. The decorative vegetable garden, full of aesthetic charm, is particularly captivating, along with the orderly evergreen patterns of the natural theater-concert hall on the middle terrace and the visually striking large floral patterns symbolizing love, all of which linger in memory. In the evening, we proceeded to Chambord Castle on the Loire, the most representative of the region. Favorite among Francis I, its majestic architecture epitomizes French Renaissance style; these three magnificent castles offer a glimpse into French civilization.
